Accessing Gazetteer Information


The Gazetteer on the World Geography & Culture Online database is a browsable directory of places and geographical features, providing access to thousands of entries organized into five categories: landforms; physical and administrative regions; populated places; public works and landmarks; and water features.

To access the Gazetteer:

  • Click on the Gazetteer text link on the top navigation bar on any page.

Gazetteer entries for a specific U.S. State or Country can also be accessed from a profile page.

  • Click on Gazetteer under the State Menu on a U.S. State Profile page.
  • Click on Gazetteer under 'Geography' in the Country Menu on a Country Profile page.
